CHRISTIAN IDIOT - XI

I am waiting to be married. I am waiting for a long time. What stand between me and my marriage are two questions that people ask about how much gold and money my parents are ready to give. Demanding and giving dowry is not just a mistake but crime according to THE DOWRY PROHIBITION ACT, 1961 punishable under IPC 406,304B and 498A. Why the church does not consider this crime as a sin against women?

I may not be an Ishwaryarai; but I am a beautiful woman.  I have good education and efficiency to earn a decent salary and I have a good job too.  Why should I give money and get married? What is the guarantee that anybody who demanded money to tie the thali around my neck will not squeeze my neck to extract more money from my parents? I have firmly told my dad that I would not marry a man who demands dowry.

Would any self-respecting man put himself on sale for five lacks or fifty sovereigns? My mom tells me that I am idiot to refuse such a man as my husband. You may also call me an idiot.  I shall wait until I find the man whom I can respect. I shall wait to be married; even it is going to be a ‘long wait‘.
